So many coaches, unfortunately, don't guide you with a plan. They might be great cheerleaders and accountability partners, but that's not enough. It's mostly because they don't have a planning system.

Starting anything new demands monumental effort. As I grow older, I realize just how much energy it takes. Launching the Business Power Hub was a bold step into uncharted territory. Although I approached this venture with meticulous planning—knowing precisely what I wanted the hub to achieve before it came to life—I underestimated one critical aspect: the relentless effort required from me.

With over 20 years of experience as a business coach, I thought I was fully prepared for this challenge. However, the continuous adjustments, navigating highs and lows, and the sheer unpredictability of it all required more from me than I anticipated.

With years of experience and an incredible team by my side, I've learned to navigate these turbulent waters. My team isn't just supportive; they are as relentless in their pursuit of excellence as I am. They provide constant feedback, help strategize, and offer words of encouragement. But the most crucial lesson I've learned this time is the importance of focusing on the big picture.

We don't dwell too long on successes or setbacks. Instead, we continually push back, reflecting on what we've done well and what needs to change. Being realistic about where we are without rushing into premature adjustments is vital. In the early stages of any venture, it's essential to drive hard to move beyond the startup phase as swiftly as possible.

Yes, it often feels like building the plane in mid-air, but fortunately, we started on solid ground.

The fear of getting it right looms large, casting a shadow in every corner of the decision-making process. Having run many established businesses before, I'll admit I had somewhat forgotten the intensity required to make a startup work. I know the statistics; I teach them. Yet, like everyone else, I strive to practice what I preach: to do the work and build a strong framework because it matters.

So, Here's My Advice: Eight Ideas for Startups

  1. Set Clear, Actionable Goals: Define three main types of targets

  2. :The Ultimate Goal: What is the grand vision you're striving for?

  3. The Needle-Mover: Key milestones that significantly advance your progress.

  4. Escape Startup Mode: Metrics that signify your transition from a startup to an established business.

  5. Define Your Business Clearly: It’s vital to have a crystal-clear understanding of what your business will do. Avoid making major changes mid-way through your startup journey as it can feel like starting from scratch.

  6. Invest in Building a Solid Framework: The foundation of your business is not just about the physical or financial aspects but also the intellectual and strategic frameworks. Open your mind to learning and new ideas, as they can provide innovative solutions to unexpected challenges.

  7. Maintain a Financial Buffer: Know how much buffer you have and how long it can sustain your operations. This financial foresight allows you to focus on building your business without the constant worry of running out of funds.

  8. Seek Advice and Build Your Support Network: Entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be a lonely journey. Surround yourself with knowledgeable mentors, advisors, and peers who understand your industry and are invested in your success.

  9. Balance Hard Work with Downtime: Ensure you schedule regular downtime to refresh your mind and foster creativity. Continuous labor without adequate rest can lead to burnout, which impairs judgment and reduces efficiency.
